4square is a subsidiary of 77 Projects LLC ("we," "us," or "our") and the Service is operated by 77 Projects LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the 4square website at 4sq.work and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we may also receive your Google account identifier and profile picture.
- Workspace activity. When you create or edit tasks, comments, related links, teams, invitations, or similar content, we record those actions in connection with your account.
- Billing information. If you purchase a subscription, payment details are processed by Stripe. We store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers associated with your account; we do not store full payment card numbers.
- Communications. If you contact us directly, we may collect the content of your message and any attachments.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device and usage data. We may collect information about the device and browser you use, your IP address, pages viewed, and interactions with the Service, including for authentication, security, and fraud prevention.
- Cookies and session tokens. We use a session cookie (or equivalent secure token) to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including authentication via one-time passcodes sent by email and optional Google sign-in.
- Provide weekly task planning, team collaboration, realtime sync, and related features.
- Process subscriptions, seat changes, and billing through Stripe.
- Communicate with you about your account or transactions — for example, sending verification codes, team invitations, or responding to support requests you initiate.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use third-party vendors to deliver the Service, including Resend (transactional email), Stripe (payments), Liveblocks (realtime collaboration), Vercel (hosting and infrastructure), MongoDB (database hosting), and Google (sign-in when you choose Google authentication). These providers access your data only as needed to perform services on our behalf and are obligated to protect it.
- Team members and shared views. Content you place on a team board may be visible to other members of that team. If you create a share link, recipients may view the shared board in read-only form.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. One-time passcodes are automatically deleted after verification or expiration (10 minutes). Session tokens expire after 30 days of inactivity. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at legal@4sq.work.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed authentication tokens and one-time passcodes, and secure storage of credentials. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction. You may access and update your account information through the Service.
- Deletion. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at legal@4sq.work. We will process your request in accordance with applicable law.
- Opt-out of communications. We send transactional emails necessary to operate the Service (such as verification codes and team invitations). If you receive optional product updates and no longer want them, contact support@4sq.work.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; (b) request deletion of your personal information; and (c) not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. 8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
9. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
